Our History

Northwest Harris County Aggie Moms’ Club

Thirty five wonderful years and still counting…. In the fall of 1987, Robbie Parman put an ad in a local newspaper in the northwest side of Houston and Harris County, Texas, stating that she was trying to start a local “Aggie Mom’s Club”. She was amazed when 23 ladies promptly responded by attending a meeting at her home. Several ladies from the Houston Club also attended to help them organize including Shirley Neal who was the Federation President that year. The moms were so excited about the new club that a constitution was adopted and a slate of officers elected at that first meeting!

The official charter was granted in March 1988. By then there were 48 “charter” members of our club. The growth of the Northwest Harris County Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club has continued steadily since then. The club has had to move its meeting locations for different times to accommodate the growth. Although the membership reached a high mark in 2002 with 401 members, the average membership is about 350 members. The majority of our enthusiastic, dedicated and hard working Aggie Moms live in the Aldine, Cypress-Fairbanks, Klein, Spring, Tomball and Waller Independent School Districts. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month from August through May each year. We are currently meeting at Houston Distributing Company, located at 7100 High Life Drive at 7:00 pm.

Northwest Harris County Aggie Moms participate in a wide variety of activities. The club’s “Tradition Line” of trees and picture frames, are sold to club members at meetings and others through our virtual boutique and Family Weekend Boutique in the spring. We assemble and deliver care packages in an Aggie container full of snacks and study aids to College Station and Galveston students prior to finals in the fall and spring. We participate in several federation sponsored events. Last, we hold several fundraising events during the year our Hullabaloo Huddle (football watch party and auction) and Aggie Trivia night (trivia contest and auction). There is something for everyone!

Our club is very proud of the establishment of the NWHC TAMU Endowed Scholarship Fund created with the Texas A&M Foundation in 2002. It was fully funded within one year and continues to grow each year to assist the club with the scholarship program. In April 2024, the NWHC Aggie Moms’ Club gave twelve $1,250 scholarships to students attending Texas A&M University from the northwest Harris County area. Also, twelve $100 book awards were given to Aggie students for the year.

Our club also gives funds to numerous organizations recognized by the university each year.

Most moms of this vibrant club will attest to the fact that some of the best friends they have are the Aggie Moms that they met and worked with through their club, the Northwest Harris County Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club. Whoop!
